Method
- Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and molasses; mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and spices.
- Combine dry and wet ingredients until dough forms. Wrap and chill 1 hour.
- Roll chilled dough 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
- Decorate with icing once cooled.
Notes
- Add orange zest or a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
- Adjust baking time slightly for thicker or thinner cookies.
