  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder optional
  • 1 –1.5 tsp peppermint extract adjust to taste
  • Whipped cream marshmallows, or crushed candy canes (for serving)

  2. Add the whole milk, heavy cream, and condensed milk to the crockpot. Stir to combine.
  3. Add the chocolate chips and cocoa powder.
  4. Cook on LOW for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to help everything melt evenly.
  5. Once smooth and fully melted, stir in the peppermint extract. Start with 1 teaspoon and adjust based on how strong you want the mint flavor.
  6. Switch the crockpot to KEEP WARM and serve as needed.
  7. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or crushed candy canes before serving.

Notes

  • Add more chocolate chips if you want a thicker, richer hot chocolate.
  • Peppermint extract is strong—start small.
  • For a lighter version, use low-fat milk or a milk alternative.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3–4 days and reheated gently with a splash of milk.
  • This recipe is perfect for a holiday hot chocolate bar with toppings like crushed cookies, caramel drizzle, chocolate shavings, or mini marshmallows.
